Growing success with Lincolnshire Field Products

OMEX has been supporting Lincolnshire Field Products for almost 30 years, helping them grow first class, quality produce.
Having helped LFP successfully transition to a liquid fertiliser operation, with continual excellent service over a number of decades, LFP recently embarked on a journey to utilise OMEX’s new liquid NPK fertiliser range, Multiflo on the farm.
Here’s what Paul Langford, Senior Farm Manager, had to say about LFP’s experience of growing with OMEX:
Speak to us about Liquid Fertiliser“With OMEX basically everything’s a positive. We meet up, we have discussions. If we get stuck we have a 24 hour response and those prompt responses are key to the relationship. ”
Paul Langford, LFP
What’s growing on the farm?
LFP are farming approximately 6900 ha of land for a variety of crops including:
- 3000ha of vegetables
- 1600ha of combinable crops
- 800ha of sugar beet
- 600ha of potatoes
- 400ha of crops for AD
“Within the business we’re dealing with a variety of different crops, soil types, and growing conditions” comments Paul Langford. He adds “They all need a supply of quality fertiliser which is where OMEX comes in and supports us. OMEX carry out soil sampling across our fields and contract operation to help us understand what nutrients the crop requires going forward. We then work together to create a fertiliser nutrient management plan to successfully grow excellent quality crops”
Soil sampling is an integral management tool at LFP, helping the farming business utilise the most effective fertiliser programmes for the crops they’re growing. “With net zero, carbon emissions, and not using that prophylatic approach, you need more information. Soil analysis helps us ensure we’re putting the right fertiliser in the right places so the crops we’re growing, grow efficiently.”

Multiflo is OMEX’s liquid NPK fertiliser range, offering ultimate liquid nutrition for growing crops.
This year LFP switched onto the Multiflo system and have seen excellent results, from service to quality.
LFP switched over to the Multiflo system after utilising Suspension Fertilisers for many years. Paul comments “once we knew Suspensions were no longer an option we had multiple meetings with OMEX to determine which system would work best for us.”
“We worked closely with the OMEX technical, operational and distribution teams to choose the best system for us and we decided to utilise Multiflo, a quality liquid NPK fertiliser range.
We have three satellite sites, and storing Multiflo at each site was the best option for us. It’s been a bit seamless really, it’s gone exceptionally well!”
LFP are now utilising the Multiflo system across their farming operation to supply the crops with a range of NP starter fertilisers and NPK fertilisers, depending on the growing situation.
Reviewing ths season so far Paul adds “you can see the evenness of the crops as they’e grown, yields are up and quality is up too.”
The Power of Multiflo Starter Fertiliser
The image to the right demonstrates pumpkins grown on the farm, with and without Multiflo 7-20-0 NP starter fertiliser, showing a striking difference in crop development.
Both rows continued to receive fertiliser throughout the growing season, demonstrating the powerful effect starter fertiliser has with the Multiflo system, supplying the crop with readily available nutrition, when it needs it.
LFP Success with Multiflo
LFP are well into their first year of utilising OMEX Multiflo liquid NPK fertiliser. The farming enterprise summarised their experience with Multiflo:
- “Multiflo has produced uniform cropping”
- “Our Sugar Beet has never looked better”
- “Crops are staying greener for longer”
- “Everything has looked lush”
- “You only have to look and see how well the crops have done, it puts a smile on your face”
- “The crops look as good, if not better, than they ever have”
Take a look at these quality crops using Multiflo.
The benefits of Liquid Fertiliser for LFP
“For us using a liquid fertiliser over granular is logistics. To be able to apply liquid fertiliser against applying granular fertiliser is a lot quicker, a lot faster.
Obviously the accuracy of a more even spread via liquid was giving us a better result than using granular fertiliser.”
Lincolnshire Field Products operate utilising three satellite sites, utilising liquid fertiliser storage to their advantage to cover their wide spread of farmed land.
Steve Ebbage, OMEX DSM of 40 years, has worked closely with LFP throughout their partnership with OMEX, he adds “we work as part of a team, working together to meet the end goal.”
The Benefits of Liquid FertiliserLFP work closely with OMEX and have four tanks at each of their three sites – totalling 12 tanks in total, with a mix of Nitroflo and Multiflo storage at each site.
“Flexibility of loads and storage has been key to such a large programme. We make phone calls and OMEX are there to support”

Utilising DIDIN Nitrification Inhibitor
DIDIN, has been an integral management tool for LFP for almost 30 years. The nitrification inhibitor has a number of benefits including:
- Reduces carbon footprint
- Reduces nitrous oxide emissions
- Improves nitrogen use efficiency
- Improves yield
- Enables all nitrogen to be applied in one pass
LFP have been utilising the power of DIDIN and applying all of their nitrogen in a single pass where possible, as a time saving management tool but also for it’s agronomic benefits.
Paul comments “you can see the difference on crops using one pass of liquid N with DIDIN, compared to granular with two passes, the crops look greener and even, particularly in drier weather. It’s one pass and less time consuming.”
